Forest Course - Monday Snowshoe Excursions, Feb 15/Mar 1, Grades 2nd-4th

    Learn how to snowshoe, and observe the forest in wintertime. Snowshoes & poles are provided. The first two sessions are 1.5 hours; the last session is 2.5 hours to allow the kids to hike to Wilderness Base Camp and have snacks and hot cocoa around the fire. Each snowshoe hike will be tailored to the group’s ability and will involve rest breaks as necessary. Each session will end with discussing and recording our forest finds.

Forest Course - Winter Skills , Feb 23/Mar 4, Grades 7th-12th

  • Two-week course: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 1:30 - 4:00 PM. Last day, overnight (Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30 pm-Thursday March 4 at 1:30 pm)

    Learn skills like fire building, shelter building, snow cave camping, making snowshoes out of forest finds, and more! Finish the course with an overnight camping trip, sleeping in a cozy snow cave. This course is a fun extension of our fall Forest Course, and will include lots of hands-on skill building!

    Overnight camping will take place on Solid Rock grounds and will include 3 meals. A gear list will be provided and some gear is available to borrow.

Spring Break Day Camp, Mar 8/Mar 11, Grades IN 4th-6th

  • Spring Day Camp 2021 includes lots of fun activities! Tubing, crafts, mini-golf, games, plus lunch and a Bible lesson daily. This camp will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities with lots of variety. Please dress your child ready to play outside for several hours at a time!

    Lunch provided each day. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

    Sibling Discount: $20 off second child (one discount per full-price registration). Applied after registration- call or email office to receive discount.

Spring Break Teen Retreat, Mar 11/Mar 13, Grades IN 7th-12th

  • Starting Time: 6:00 PM Thursday, March 11
    Ending Time: 4:00 PM Saturday, March 13
    Enjoy a mix of activities such as tubing, broomball, snowshoe excursions, mini-golf, and reverse tie-dye. Spend time connecting with friends, learning about what rooting your identity in Christ looks like, and eating lots of good food!

    There will be free time and optional activities if your teen needs time for homework.

    Be sure to pack snowclothes!

Primary Spring Forest Course Mondays & Wednesdays, Mar 29/May 5, Grades In 2nd-4th (current grade)

    Join us for the spring session of the Forest Course!

    Encouraging curiosity about nature and an appreciation of God’s creation, the Forest Course is designed to get kids exploring outdoors! Led by Solid Rock staff, kids will learn about forest ecology through exploration, observation, and play. The Forest Course seeks to build connection, resilience, outdoor skills and nature knowledge, as well as encouraging each child to learn about the character of God.

    Classes are twice a week for 2.5 hours. The session runs for 6 weeks. Topics such Nesting Birds, Seed Germination, and Lake Life focus specifically on the Kenai Peninsula seasons, species, and dynamics. Kids also learn about the attributes of God the Creator through Bible verses and songs. The classes are a combination of hands-on learning, games, and art.

    Please send your children dressed warmly and with a waterproof outer layer. Children must be able to use the bathroom unassisted. A small snack will be provided; kids need to bring their own water bottles. A further list of Things to Bring will be emailed to you after registration.

    Supply Kits: Supply kits, including drawing case, notebook, markers, and magnifier will be provided. Materials and costs are still being calculated but will include much of the same materials as the fall Forest Course supply kit. If your child attended Fall Forest course, the can bring their supply kit and you will only be charged for additional materials.
